Company Overview:
Natur’el Tea was founded by Jolene Brewster in 2005. With a
love for tea at an early age, she started her
dream/business, which began as a Banff Avenue Tearoom. With
Sunny window side tables, surrounded by magnificent
mountains this was perfect location to share her vision of
“a genuine experience”, a place to enjoy the perfect cup of
tea while viewing local artists creations. With an amazing
customer response for her loose-leaf tea she decided to
expand her online and wholesale business to meet requests
and demands of clients. Jolene closed her store in 2008 and
began to focus specifically on sourcing unique tea’s and
healthful herbs from around the world. Her primary goal is
to find tea and herbs from specialized gardens where
traditional hand harvesting methods are still in practice as
well as organic, sustainable, and fair-trade agricultural.
Personal Bio: The Tea Girl
Childhood is an infinite mould that shapes our lives and for
Jolene Brewster, growing up in the beautiful rural Alberta
countryside, was a wonderful setting to deeply connect her
with the land, agriculture, & community
After years of independent
study on the health benefits of herbs and plants, a double
major in Land Reclamation and Soil and Water Conservation,
and the opportunity to work closely with naturopath Jan
Smith in Adelaide, Australia, Jolene took the next step and
opened her business.
In
2008 she achieved her level one and two Tea certification
accredited by the Specialty Tea Institute of New York. “Tea
is a lifetime of learning and over the years my appreciation
deepens as I discover more about the agricultural practices
of this ancient plant and how this changes by the culture
and customs of the people growing, harvesting and enjoying
the tea.”
Every year Jolene expands her knowledge of tea at the World
Tea Expo held in Las Vegas. She has the opportunity to meet
and speak with plantation owners from China, India, & Japan.
“One of the most spectacular tea’s in my collection is the
Organic Sencha which won a World Tea Championship. It‘s
grown in an area of Japan with rich volcanic soils giving
the tea such a pure deep flavor and the most brilliant
emerald green color. This tea can be re-infused up to 4
times and each time you will notice the aroma and flavor
changes and enhances.”
From here Jolene’s goals for her business include learning
more about tea and she intends to expand her importation of
distinctive leaves and flavors and continue creating and
sharing fabulous new Tea blends.
“My core belief behind all that I do, is that within nature
we will find ourselves and here lies the answer to
everything we seek. ”
